This is one thing our current generation doesn't know too much about. We've been taught & are continuing to be told that there are no absolutes with anything & right and wrong all depends on the situation [what they call 'situational ethics']. How did we get so far off? If you just step back and think about what the world has concluded about right and wrong, good and evil-you would clearly see that it's absurd. Without boundaries, without limits, without discipline, we would be living in a world of chaos. Just look at our society and anywhere else around the world where they think this way and you'll see the negative effects of "situational ethics". Crime is on the rise, drug & alcohol abuse is abounding, adultery & fornication are prominent & a normal part of everyday life. And when you look at it realistically, it only causes problems and confusion to live with that mindset. That's why we have laws to abide by-in the country in businesses in schools, etc. It's not okay to steal from someone just because they did you wrong & you feel they deserve it. It's not okay to kill someone because they made you mad. It's not okay for a person to commit adultery just because they don't think their spouse understands them anymore but their co-worker does. All of this stems from 'situational ethics' - which in short is, whatever is right in your eyes for that situation at that particular time is what's the right thing to do. Many people don't feel using the Word of God as a foundation is practical in this day & age. [Do they not realize that our founding fathers used the Bible as the foundation when they created our laws & amendments?] We need to understand that right and wrong & good and evil don't change with the generations. What was considered right & good 2000 years ago is what is still right & good today. And that goes for wrong & evil. Don't make the mistake of tossing aside the simple guidelines from God's Word on how to determine between right/wrong & good/evil. Don't believe that as the times change, so do our morals, values and standards. Let's raise the standard & be examples for the world & show them that it is possible to live a life with absolutes. Let's show them the peace from God that comes when we live according to His Word. Next time you want to know if something is right, wrong, good or evil, turn to the Word and see what God has to say about it. His way will guarantee a victorious and undefeated life.
